Introduction to
Handbuilding

Explore a variety of handbuilding techniques and make an array of
ceramic forms both functional and sculptural. Create vases, plates,
jars, bowls and teapots. Also, learn texture and finishing
techniques such as slip trailing, inlay, scraffitto, mishima...This
class is open to all skill levels.

Clay Play for Kids From 5
to 95 (Adult/Child Class)

This course will bring family members together to experience the
exciting world of clay and build basic skills and understanding of
ceramic forming techniques. Hand building and wheel thowing
techniques will be explored, creating functional and sculptural
forms. Give it a try! Expect to have a great time tapping into your
family creative roots.

Introduction to the Potter's
Wheel

This is a great way to begin learning the ancient art of using the
potter’s wheel. Students develop basic throwing skills while making
vases, mugs, jars and bowls from stoneware clay. Glaze and
decorate! Tuition covers glaze materials and kiln firing.
Anticipate additional fees for clay and some tools .

Sampler Ceramics

Wednesday's 6:00-8:30
Learn the different facets of ceramics. Work with commercial molds
and create your own. Learn to pinch, coil and slab various shapes
and sculptures. Finish your artwork with chalking, drybrushing,
underglazes and glazes.

Ceramics I

This class will introduce you to wheel throwing for the
beginning-level ceramicist and an introduction to new forms and
shapes.This class involves slab building, and coil . We will
increase your knowledge and skills in ceramics preparing you for
advanced classes. Introduction to RAKU.

Ceramics II

Monday's 6:00-9:00
This class builds upon skills already achieved from Ceramics I and
is designed to increase your abilities to throw larger forms, make
lids that fit, pitcher spouts that pour, handles, bowls and altered
forms and bowls. Ceramics surface decoration and development
through the use of slips and glazing techniques will be covered.
Students will also be introduced to loading and firing Raku,
oxidation, and reduction kilns. This is a wonderful class for those
ready to take their throwing skills to the next level.
Lab fee $15.00
Tuition covers kiln firings and materials. Anticipate additional
fees for tools and clay.
Tile
Making/Mozaics

Come wallow in the mud. This class will introduce basic sizing,
cutting, and decorating techniques that will allow each student to
personalize their own hand-built ceramic tile. We will cover
processes as relief, texture, and glazing design. This class will
also explore the realm of tile mosaics. Each student will have the
opportunity to design and create custom mosaics.

Raku
Rodeo

Saturday afternoons from 1-6, January 30 and March 27.
Students who want to experience the raku firing process but don’t
want or know how to make their own vessels. We provide an
opportunity for you to have fun glazing and take two already made
small raku pieces home with you! If you are a potter,bring your own
bisqued ware to be raku fired. Join our raku workshop and pay just
$48. Additional pieces will be made available to glaze and fire for
$10 each.Class includes glaze and slip techniques that are unique
to Raku.
Exploring Ceramic
Surfaces

Start with a form you will create in class, build up the clay
surface with stamps and sprigged additions and mould small objects
to adhere to the surface. Learn how to make and use colored clay
and experiment with self-glazing clay called Egyptian paste.
Metallic and pearlescent lustres will also be used in
finishing.

Learn to see like an artist sees. With pencil in hand, your drawing
skills will improve in just a few lessons. If you have never tried
this process, you owe it to yourself. All you need is a pencil and

This drawing class will focus on a variety of subjects including
perspective, figure, shading, and foreshortening. Students need an
18 x 24 newsprint pad and a drawing pad in a size of their choice.

This is a 6 week session that runs December 18 to March 1st. We
will be drawing with several dry media, students will learn
proportion, shading and work from photos as well as live
models.

This is a second level drawing class. We will be using soft colored
pencils. Techniques will be explored and students will learn how to
layer their project. Bring a set of Prismacolors or something
similar.

experiment with wet in wet, washes and dry brush. Learn about
paper, brushes, color mixing and design. We will also explore the

FIBERS

Create hand dyed fabrics using wax and dyes. Colors are applied one
by one starting with the lightest and going to the darkest. Bring
your own design. (Flat images are easier than 3 dimensional) For
beginners and experienced alike.

Glass Fusing with Dos Mimis at
the “Dos Mimis
Studio”

Beginning January 18 & 25, February15 & 22, and March 8
& 12. Saturday workshops will begin April 3rd from 10-4 .Join
this fast-paced workshop. Students will get anintroduction to
glass, glass safety, learn the basics of cutting & breaking
glass and discuss the technical aspects of fusing and slumping. Fee
includes instructions, use of tools, firing, and enough glass to
complete each project. Fired projects will be available the week
after class. Please no No Open ToeShoes. Cost is $125 for each 6
hour session class. Directions to studio will be given at

from February 8th – May 4th. Explore the properties of non-ferrous
metals (silver and copper) and how to manipulate and form these
metals into functional/wearable art. We will explore soldering,
sawing, hammering and stone setting techniques. No experience

Beginning through advanced stone sculpting. As a beginner you will
be introduced to the world of stone sculpture with limestone. You
will be taught to conceptualize your piece & create a clay
maquette. You will be taught basic hand tool principles and
applications. We will also cover basic anatomy and proportioning .
For advanced students, air will be available for pneumatic
tools.

Already know how to weld? Learn to design and create small and
large metal sculptures for outdoors and gardens. This class will
use gas, arc and MIG welding techniques. Bring a welding hood,

This class will involve utilizing basic welding techniques such as
oxy/acetylene, standard arc and some MIG and TIG welding. Class
will also consist of seven basic techniques in metal-smithing.
**Students will need to bring safety goggles, #5 cutting goggles,
medium to thick leather gloves, wear boots, 100% cotton long-sleeve
shirt, and blue jeans without holes.

*Prerequisite: This class is only open to students who have taken a
previous class at Inspire Fine Art
