This doesn't surprise me that you're choosing to work on abstract elements of everyday life based on what I've seen so far. I think this is really good. I think the high contrast works since "clouds" would be a distraction from what you're trying to show here.
The exposure would be based on the girders and "blow out" the rest. Very nice. I would go as close to 100 ISO as possible since you probably want the lines to be as crisp as possible.
